In this context, the Industry Development Center, Vietnam Industry Agency, Ministry of Industry & Trade organized "The training course for applying 5 core tools of IATF 16949: 2016 in automobile sector". Through a careful evaluation process and meeting many different standards, KIMSEN was honored to be selected to participate in this training course on June 1st to 5th, 2020.

IATF 16949:2016 (replaces ISO/TS 16949:2009) is the International Standard for Automotive Quality Management Systems. IATF 16949 was jointly developed by The International Automotive Task Force (IATF) members and submitted to the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) for approval and publication. In order to apply IATF 16949:2016, besides meeting the requirements of this standard, enterprises must regularly apply 5 core tools of the automobile manufacturing industry.
For that reason, 5 core tools play a very important role in advanced planning, analyzing and controlling to prevent errors; enhancing the quality and capacity of the production process; making decisions based on analytical reporting data to continually improve to meet customer's quality & technical requirements, while eliminating the waste of improving production process performance. These are the 5 core tools that are required when the organization establishes and applies a specialized quality management system for the automotive industry, according to IATF 16949: 2016.
5 core tools include:
- APQP - Advanced Product Quality Planning and Control Plan: reduces the complexity of product quality planning.
- PPAP - Production Part Approval Process: ensures engineering design and product specification requirements are met.
- FMEA - Potential Failure Mode and Effects Analysis: is a tool used to identify and address failure modes in products and processes.
- MSA - Measurement System Analysis: measurement data monitors nearly every process. As data quality improves, decision quality improves.
- SPC - Statistical Process Control: describes several basic and advanced statistical methods to ensure your process improvements are more effective.
The training course "5 core tools" provided by Industry Development Center, Vietnam Industry Agency, Ministry of Industry & Trade helped the learners understand the knowledge as well as know how to practice to achieve the goals, principles, procedures and methods applied in production.
5 core tools of IATF 16949:2016 are not only applied to products in the field of automobile, but also applied to products requiring high quality or relating to export, etc. The application of these 5 tools is a prerequisite for developing the IATF 16949:2016. This is also the basis for KIMSEN to build and apply 5 tools in the actual production process.
After the training course, the Quality Management Department will practice applying the knowledge to the actual production and plan to train 5 core tools of IATF 16949:2016 for related personnel to improve their knowledge in quality control. Definitely, the application of 5 core tools will help continuously improve the quality management system, prevent errors, reduce volatility and cut down waste in the supply chain at KIMSEN.
